Meetings

During the winter months the Society holds regular meetings, at which talks are given by members or invited speakers.

The fourth Friday of every month is reserved for observing and provided the evening is clear, the observatory and telescopes are available for use. These evenings are a great opportunity for members to learn more about the night sky from some of our more knowledgable members.

CLASSES IN BASIC ASTRONOMY
Each year the Society offers basic classes in Astronomy. The classes offer an excellent introduction to the subject and cover topics such as the Earth, our solar system and space travel. This year the classes will also include an introduction digital imaging. This years classes will take place at Glenamour, Newton Stewart and will also make use of the Society's observatory when "seeing" conditions are good.

Classes will commence in late September and you are advised to book your place early. You will need to become a member so that you are covered by our insurance policy.
