About Us

Wigtownshire Astronomical Society is based in Newton Stewart, Dumfries & Galloway, an area of Scotland renowned for having some of the darkest skies in Europe.

The Society has its own sliding roof observatory, which it uses for hosting group observing sessions and is also available for use by individual members.

During the winter months the society meets on the second Wednesday of every month and talks are given by members and invited speakers.

The Society also provides speakers who visit local schools and other organisations to give talks and demonstrations.
